Bridging the Gender Digital Divide through WomenKonnect!
Information and communications technologies (ICTs) are becoming widely accepted as integral means for transforming the path of development. As envisaged in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the importance of harnessing information and communication technologies for poverty eradication cannot be overemphasized.
Yet, as statistics describing the growing digital divide demonstrate, women and girls are at particular risk for exclusion from opportunities presented by ICT to secure better livelihoods and other rights.
The particular opportunities presented by ICT as means to foster women's economic security and rights in Africa, while being tested on a small scale in the region, remain largely untapped. Constraints of infrastructure, cost and content as well as gender biases in the use and development of ICT constitute significant barriers to use for most individual entrepreneurs or micro- enterprises.
Equinox ICT Solutions has a commitment to bridge the wide Gender gap in the use of ICTs through WomenKonnect.
WomenKonnect is a training seminar targeted at young girls and Women ,sensitising them on how they can further develop their lives with the use of ICTs.....

I think that this would be something very appropriate for your website to talk about. Women and girls need to be considered equals in life, and as my story shows, girls can earn the respect they deserve. A very young girls' soccer team played in a league that they dominated. The girls won every game, even against other girls that were older than them. Their coach made a bold move and put them into the boys league. This was met with some criticism, but as the girls did exceptionally well, it made people stop and think about what was fair and right concerning girls and boys. People should not be discriminated against based on gender, and these girls overcame that discrimination. Watch the trailer at www.kicklikeagirlmovie.com and see what you think.

WomenKonnect is coming up with mentoring programmes for girls in ICTs.The ICTs field is believed to be a male domain simply because it is male dominated.Girls have to be encouraged to take the necessary trainings they need to build their capacities technologically,they also have to believe in themselves first.WomenKonnect aims to identify those girls who want to build careers in ICTs,so as to be able to mentor them and assist them in planning their future career wise.
